This grant aims to promote the translation of Swedish literature into non-Nordic languages.
The grant covers either translation costs or both translation and some production costs for translated editions of Swedish works. Swedish works include literature written in Swedish or in one of Sweden’s national minority languages and originally published in Sweden.
Translation of Swedish literature to another Nordic language
The purpose of this grant is to increase the publication of quality literature in other Nordic languages. As the grant is administered through the national literature centres and their national and international networks, it can contribute to a broader discussion of translated literature.
The grant covers either translation costs or both translation and some production costs for translated editions of Swedish works. Swedish works include literature written in Swedish or in one of Sweden’s national minority languages and originally published in Sweden.
Translation of Swedish drama for stage performance
This grant covers the cost of translating original Swedish theatre plays into other languages. By original Swedish theatre plays, we mean plays written in Swedish or in one of Sweden’s national minority languages. Furthermore, the work must have been originally published or performed in Sweden.
A condition for receiving the grant is that the translation is made directly from Swedish or one of the national minority languages, and not via a third language. Exceptions may be granted for languages for which no professional translators are available who can translate directly from Swedish or the national minority languages.
